Wine Bottle Design Awards 2011

By Henry Rivers

Lets face it – the design of wine labels is important.

For those of us whose knowledge of wine goes little beyond red and white (I think there’s a pink one too) the appearance of the bottle is the only fall back we have when browsing the shelves. Here at the reflexstock blog we’ve decided to pay tribute to designers who have excelled in various areas of the field (or should I say vineyard) of wine bottle design.

Please enjoy this post responsibly!

Who could possibly resist these friendly European farmers?

A great idea – although, as someone who has in the past tried and struggled to write legibly on a curved surface, I’m not convinced…

Very handy – having chicken for dinner and there’s a chicken on the bottle – it’s a no brainer!

Could this become a new trend in wine bottle design?

A very confused design. Unless this bottle is less than 100ml it ain’t going get you through an airport.

(Entry to limited to Red and White couples)

This wine is called the ‘The Optimist’. We liked it a lot.

Can’t beat a blue tie – super classy.

Now for the Major Awards:

Unfortunately due to a lack of votes here at the ‘reflexstock blog wine awards 2011′ we had to resort to an alternative system. Type ‘wine bottle design’ into google images – and this is what you get.

Visit us next week for Part 2 in which ‘Best Red’, ‘Smallest Wine’, ‘Best Typographic Label’ along with various other prestigious winners will be announced.

It begins when one goes to the store to select the perfect wine for the occasion that is being celebrated. So the design of a wine bottle is part and parcel of the complete event of drinking wine. .In fact before one even tastes a wine it is the wine bottle that one is attracted to.

………..If youre like me a wine lover this article will be the tastiest you will have seen on Designer Daily. Unfortunatly Im not a wine expert so I often rely on the bottles label design when it comes to picking my future drink. Following is a list of wine that I could have picked based on their design at the store…Frank B label with a customizabe message designed by …Mas Romani label designed by good use of patterns and colors…Nice concept by Hanna Backman…Do you like vintage movie posters?
